Teltonika FMB920 GPS Tracker Installation Guide

 

IMPORTANT – THIS DEVICE IS ONLY TO BE INSTALLED BY SUITABLY QUALIFIED INSTALLERS

The tracking device should be  mounted inside of the vehicle.

The device has 5 wires but only 2 wires need to be connected making for a really easy installation. You must always connect the power feed so connect Pin 1 (RED) and Pin 2 (Black)

The RED power feed wire must be connected to a point which is protected by a fuse.

Ideally mount the device behind a trim panel or under the dashboard out of the way and run the power feed cables to a suitable source such as the fuse box.

NOTES ON IGNITION SENSE

There are 3 options for detecting ignition on/off

1. DIN1 Input wire (Yellow) – Connect this wire to a suitable power feed controlled by vehicle ignition status. (If yellow wire is not connected, do not use DIN1 Input wire as ignition sense.)

2. Board Voltage – Device automatically detects voltage change when engine is switched on/off and sets the ignition status accordingly. (On some vehicles this feature can provide false readings such as auto stop/start technology etc in which case select option 3 (Movement sense)

3 Movement Sense – When the device detects movement it switched the ignition status to on. If the device does not sense any movement for any 5 minute period it will switch the ignition status to off.

You will need to log into the tracking platform to set the method of ignition you are using.

TRACKING INTERVAL SETTINGS

You can change the data upload settings in the software platform. If connecting remote immobilise feature we recommend setting the ‘idle’ time interval to 30 seconds.

Always ensure you tick the box marked ‘Enable the sleep mode on idle’ which switches the GPS module off when parked to preserve the vehicle battery charge level.

UNAUTHORISED MOVEMENT SETUP

The platform will automatically set up unauthorised movement alerts. To prevent false alarms from GPS drift we recommend setting the minimum control start time to 5 minutes and the minimum distance to at least 1000ft.

HARSH DRIVING MONITOR

You can alter the sensitivity for the ‘harsh driving’ alerts in the platform device settings tab.

Enabling the IMMOBILISER from the desktop.

Click on the information icon next to the tracker in the object list as shown.

Click on the toggle switch in the information bar at the bottom of the screen.

Enabling the IMMOBILISER from the APP.

Click on the information icon then scroll down to outputs box where you can toggle the outputs.

Motorcycle Installation Notes

A typical battery on a motorcycle is much smaller than a car so it is important to use power management settings on the tracker to preserve battery life and prevent the risk of the battery being completely flat.

The FMB920 has an ‘Ultra deep sleep mode’ which will shut down the GPS and GSM modules in the tracker to bring the current drain down to a minimum. When the device is in ultra deep sleep mode, it is only possible to wake the device by input wire DIN1 ignition signal or movement sense.

If you wish to use this sleep option, contact support at services@ftcmail.co.uk quoting your device IMEI number or username. We will then switch it over remotely for you.

Caravan Installation Notes

A caravan leisure battery can power the FMB920 tracker without any problem but if the caravan is stored and not used for long periods it is advisable to use power management settings on the tracker to preserve battery life and prevent the risk of the battery being completely flat.

The FMB920 has an ‘Ultra deep sleep mode’ which will shut down the GPS and GSM modules in the tracker to bring the current drain down to a minimum. When the device is in ultra deep sleep mode, it is only possible to wake the device movement sense (assuming the yellow wire DIN1 is not connected)
